Review & Authorization
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) serves to support faculty and research programs by facilitating applications for external funding and management of awards. As the designated authorized institution official, OSP reviews and approves all proposals on behalf of Emory University.
Roles & Responsibilities
Principle Investigator (PI)
Develops the proposal.
Reviews the research plan and ensures institutional resources needed have been accounted.
Review proposal before submission for accuracy.
Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP)
Provide guidance to the PI and departmental staff on proposal preparation, reviews proposal for accuracy/completness/compliance with sponsor and institutional policies, and provides institutional authorization of the proposal.
Submission to Sponsor
OSP determines if an application is submitted. If the document is submitted by the deadline, the Office of Sponsored Programs will work with the PI and/or department administrator to resolve questions and recommended changes. Where feasible and efficient, OSP will make edits. However, substantial changes will necessitate that the proposal be returned to the department for edits which may jeopardize timely submission of the application.
