EMORY UNIVERSITY

Overview of the Process for Electronic Application Submission with PureEdge Forms

1.

Download the PureEdge Application Viewer (see the Information Technology Manual for Citrix Server Access and Use below for detailed information). Please note that a Macintosh computable version of the PureEdge software (Known as the IBM WorkForce Forms Viewer) has been made available. Information on where to download it and its limitations can be found on the Grants.gov site. If you are unable to download the PureEdge forms viewer to your computer, see the IT Manual for Citrix Server Access and Use for information on getting access to and using the Emory Citrix server to complete your application. (Skip this step if you have previously downloaded the PureEdge Software.)

2.
Identify the Funding Opportunity Announcement for the program to which you wish to submit. This FOA will contain the application package and instructions (see PowerPoint Presentation beginning at Slide 20)
3.
Complete the Application Package (for NIH Applications see PowerPoint presentation, the IT Manual for Citrix Server Access and Use, the IT Manual for Grants.gov Submission: Users' Manual for PureEdge and PDF Software and Instruction Kits posted below).
4.
Route a printed hard copy of application, along with SPAF through normal routing process (see PowerPoint presentation at Slide 105).
5.

Transmit electronic application file to OSP via the OSP Digital Dropbox. Only an application in final form which is ready for submission to the agency should be transmitted through the drop box. (See PowerPoint presentation at Slide 110 and the IT Manual for Grants.gov Submission: Users' Manual for PureEdge and PDF Software at Page 19.)

OSP will then review the paper and electronic copies of the application. If we have any questions, we will work with you to resolve all issues prior to submission. After submission, if the application has validation errors, we will work with you to correct and re-submit the application prior to the deadline.

Registration Requirements

Emory University is fully registered and capable of submitting applications through Grants.gov. In fact, we have already successfully submitted numerous applications to NIH and other agencies through the system. Therefore, DO NOT attempt to register with Grants.gov. There is no requirement or provision for PI’s to register with Grants.gov.

However, the Principal Investigator for an NIH electronic submission MUST have an ACTIVE account in the eRA Commons system. If you do not have an active eRA Commons account, please contact your department administrator and ask them to contact OSP to request the account.
